A Brief Overview of the DBJV:
The German Bowhunting Association (DBJV) was founded in 1999 and provides a wealth of information for anyone interested in modern hunting with bow and arrow, which is now accepted and successfully practiced as an ethical form of hunting in 19 European countries. The DBJV is the sole organization in Germany authorized by the National Bowhunter Education Foundation (NBEF) to offer training based on the internationally recognized International Bowhunter Education Program (IBEP) and to examine candidates according to the rules of the European Bowhunting Federation (EBF), the NBEF, and the DBJV. For simplicity, the IBEP is often referred to as bowhunter training.
Highlights of This Episode:
The podcast discusses the structure of the DBJV and the training process for becoming a bowhunter. Training is conducted through the EBF, which also plays a key role in developing international training standards for bowhunters. The training includes theoretical tests and practical shooting exams. The guests emphasize the importance of a solid understanding of animal anatomy for effective hunting practices. Oliver and Anders discuss the challenges and joys of bowhunting, including the closeness to animals it allows. The episode concludes with an invitation to listeners to try bowhunting themselves and to remain open to new experiences.
